Yesterday I tried to get a Prepaid-SIM for during my stay in the US. Checked at AT&T, as I already have a T-Mobile-SIM from my company and UMTS-type coverage really does differ over here. But, well, they offered to buy a 3G-only Android, as for prepaid HSPA and above were not allowed, and on top of that useless phone for USD 150 I’d need a plan starting somewhere at USD 30 for some meager MB/month …
Went to T-Mobile afterwards, paid USD for the SIM and put 5 times 3 dollars onto it: USD 3 per day gives you some hundred MB/day on 4G speeds, unlimited texts (that’s the local word for SMS :-)) and (domestic) calls — ideal for a short trip like mine …
